PetMeds customer Question: After running 3 to 4 miles my Rottweiler occasionally limps. Is it safe to give her aspirin?
In today’s economic hard times animal guardians are typically trying to find economic home alternatives to treat their lame or injured pets. one of the oldest anti-inflammatories, also known as buffered aspirin can typically be used in these situations. While it is always best to check with your pet’s veterinarian, a lot of healthy adult dogs can be given aspirin, as long as there is no history of bleeding, digestive tract, kidney or liver disorders and your pet is not on other anti inflammatory drugs (such as Prednisone or nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medications).
In geriatric pets it is always best to check with a veterinarian first. Doses of aspirin are usually 2.5 to 5 mg per pound once twice daily. When given with food on a short term, this can typically alleviate minor injuries or limb pain. must limping persist for a lot more than a few days, and/or symptoms intensify, a veterinary consultation is always recommended. It is crucial for animal guardians to not use aspirin if their pet is vomiting, having diarrhea or not eating, because in such cases giving aspirin can typically worsen these symptom states.
