If a cat could Be president

Cats have been in the White house for centuries. Abraham Lincoln’s cat Tabby was the first presidential cat. In a lot more recent times, the Carters’ Misty Malarky Ying Yang and the Clinton’s Socks called the White house home. I’m quite sure that feline energy makes the White house a kinder and gentler place, and I’m equally sure that the world would be in better shape if cats didn’t just live in the White House, but could actually be president. So this Presidents Day weekend, I asked Allegra and Ruby what it would be like if a cat could be president. Not surprisingly, they had some pretty strong opinions on the subject.

Allegra

If cats could be president,

there would be no a lot more homeless cats. Every cat would have a forever home where she is loved and cared for.

nap time would be mandated by law. Every cat and every human would be required to take at least one nap each day, preferably together.

play time would be mandated by law. Humans would be required to play with their cat at least twice a day. This will not only make cats and humans happier, but it will also make sure a good night’s sleep for both!

cats will be allowed to be with their humans in nursing homes, hospices and hospitals.

every office and store will have a citizen cat. This will help humans cope better with the anxiety of having to work to earn money for cat food.

catnip would be legal in every state.

Ruby

If cats could be president,

there would be tuna for everyone!

Conscious cat Sunday will return next week.

I think that looks like a great campaign I’d vote for them! I had a friend who put a vote for hey there Kitty sign in her yard last time we had a presidential election because she wasn’t ecstatic about any candidate. I also once wrote in Garfield on a ballot.

On a side note I think it would be great to have citizen kitties at hospital/hospices/nursing Homes. My parents are both in a care facility and both love their grand-cat. We are lucky because the care facility allows visits from family pets and I have taken Ellie Mae to visit. They also have pet therapy with therapy dogs once a month. My kitty will also speak to her human grandma over the phone. She purrs and meows and I put it on speaker so she can hear my mommy voice real well. often Ellie will even ask to speak to her grandma on the phone by putty her paw on the phone and then when she is does she pushes the phone away. I know it sounds kind of crazy but I’ve seen it happen a bunch of times. ? It always makes my mommy delighted to hear from Ellie Mae.

This made me chuckle. I would vote for Allegra and Ruby any day. I agree with Allegra that every office and store would be required to have a citizen cat. It would greatly minimize anxiety for the humans earning a paycheck to get cat food, cat nip, treats, toys and vet care for their furry cat companions. ?

Thank you all, for your support! The girls are busy plotting their campaign. Ruby is looking into finding reliable tuna suppliers.
